The Allegro Expands to Address Growing Memory Care Needs for Area Seniors

The Allegro at Fleming Island

Jacksonville Fla., February 28, 2008 — Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, degenerative brain disorder that results in impaired memory, thinking and behavior. In America, every 72 seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Currently, one in 10 people over the age of 65 and half of those over age 85 live with Alzheimer’s.

Memory loss is no reason for shame. Alzheimer’s disease is a disease of the brain, which, for the moment, has no cure. As caregivers, we must address the physical and emotional needs of our loved ones who are afflicted with memory impairments. Once-familiar tasks, such as working in the garden or reading the newspaper are no longer possible; agitation and unfamiliarity become the unfortunate reality.

Studies have shown that Alzheimer’s patients benefit from structured programs that provide proper nutrition, hydration and assistance with activities of daily living, as well as dignified, therapeutic activities including music, art, exercise, and spiritual and cognitive stimulation.

The Allegro at Fleming Island is proud to announce its expansion to now include the Accolade Memory Care Neighborhood. The Accolade will cater specifically to the needs of those with memory impairments. The Allegro has long been recognized as a leader in quality independent and assisted living. It was a natural progression to expand and provide the same signature service combined with cutting-edge technology and architectural components to enable residents with memory impairments to enjoy pleasant, fulfilling days.

Today’s memory care is a far cry from the nursing homes that previous generations experienced. Homelike settings, meaningful programs and delicious meals combined with 24-hour support provided by carefully selected caregivers are all a part of The Allegro’s way to set new benchmarks for memory care services for the Orange Park, Clay County community. Quality care, combined with support for families, such as educational programs, support groups and an on-site resource library, will continue The Allegro’s tradition of excellence and establish the Accolade as the premier memory care neighborhood in Clay County.

The Accolade will open its doors in June 2008. Please contact Carolyn Williams, Sales and Marketing Director, at (904)278-4442 for detailed information.
