The Allegro at Helmwood Hosts Winter Coat Drive
Benefiting the
Domestic Violence Center
The Allegro at Helmwood
November 16, 2009 — Elizabethtown, KY — The Allegro at Helmwood held a coat drive on November 16th benefiting the Domestic Violence Center. This year over 50 coats were given to the Allegro in support of this organization.
Every year the Domestic Violence Center (DVC) does a winter coat drive to help their victims prepare for the winter. The Allegro was determined that no child or adult should go without a winter coat this season and for three weeks they collected winter coats from staff, residents, and family members.
The Domestic Violence Center is a comprehensive agency providing assistance to all family members impacted by domestic violence. DVC operates an emergency safe house for victims who need to escape an abuse situation immediately. Many victims are forced to leave their homes with only the clothes on their backs and are forced to leave personal items like a winter coat behind with their abuser. Katrina Valliant, the Sales & Marketing Director for the Allegro happily supported this cause by giving the donated coats to Wanda Pendleton, Director of the DVC.
